At the initiative of "Animal Care Center" CNPO, a large shelter will soon be built next to their territory as well as 4-5 shelters will be built in different administrative districts of Yerevan.
The director of the centre highlights that one should think long before deciding to keep the animals. It's not just a hobby or fun, first of all, it’s a responsibility. He recommends adopting an animal from shelters. He mentions that it is a proven fact that street dogs are more grateful to people and become better friends than many other expensive ones.
"When you give them love, warmth and better conditions, it is returned twice," adds Arakelyan.
As part of his corporate social responsibility, Nairi also donated money to the "Dingo" NGO to organise medical care for stray dogs and purchase medicine for them.
We do our best to create a better and friendly environment.
As a kind reminder: Nairi has also created a special pet insurance program called “Pet Insurance”.
Animals are our little friends and they also need love and care.
Nairi's team has recently visited the “Animal Care Center” operating under the jurisdiction of the Yerevan Municipality to meet and play with the dogs temporarily living in the shelter, to give them some tasty things to eat and recharge with positive energy. Dogs do not live permanently in the centerÖ‰ they are brought when needed and leave when the stay becomes unnecessary.
Currently, over a hundred dogs live here. How do dogs appear in the centre? Every day from 6 am till midnight, a group of workers monitor the streets of Yerevan, they also visit different addresses if they receive an alert and bring the dogs to the centre. First, they examine the dogs to find out if they have any dangerous or infectious diseases, then (if the dogs are healthy) they spay the dogs. Based on the veterinarian's opinion, a decision is made whether to return the dog to the street or keep it in the centre for a while until it recovers. The ones likely to be adopted also stay here, and the centre's team starts actively looking for a kind and caring owner.
"When we find the owner for the dog, he comes to the centre, signs a contract where it’s clearly stated that the animal wouldn’t wander any more, and if at some point he would be unable to take care of the animal, he will return it to us, not to the street. According to the contract, in the case of the puppies, we take responsibility to stray and do vaccinations after 4 months for free," mentions Harutyun Arakelyan, the director of the Animal Care Center.
More than 3,000 animals are served in the centre annually.
