Armenia is a country where everything starts from the borders. The country is strong when the borders are impregnable, and a soldier guarding the border is encouraged while looking back and seeing families and children behind.
With this belief, within the framework of Nairi Insurance's corporate social responsibility strategy, for this time, our spotlight has become Kut - the border village of the Gegharkunik region.
Kut became a border after the 44-day war of 2020. From those living in the settlement with ordinary status, the people of Kut immediately turned into border guards.
In addition to the status, the social conditions also have changed, the peasants who were mainly engaged in animal husbandry had to reduce the number of animals, because the pastures were decreased, and it is no longer safe to take the animals to the mountains.
There were a few families who decided to leave the village, nevertheless, the overwhelming majority stayed, accepting the new challenge and responsibility with honour, and with a confident decision to make their village flourish and keep the border strong.
As we have learned from one of Nairi's good colleagues the children of Kut wanted to have musical instruments and drawing supplies in the village, because they had no other activities in the village when their lessons were over. Nairi immediately and lovingly responded to the wishes of the Kut children. We have decided to spend the upcoming Sunday uniquely and differently by personally delivering the gifts to Kut, talking to the children, and spending time with them.
The artist Hasmik also joined our team to conduct a master class on the spot, to teach how to use professional painting tools correctly and competently.
Sofia, a specialist in Nairi's human resources management department, talked with the high school students about further professional orientation, shared practical advice on what is important to an employer while hiring, etc.
We left Kut fulfilled with a large dose of positive energy and gratitude. Yes, we are grateful, we are truly thankful to every border guard of our compatriots, both young and old. While living close to the border, they already make this border stronger.
May peace accompany our borders and homeland.
