Do You Know You Still Need a CMPTL Contract Even If You Don't Use Your Vehicle?
Nairi Team
Your CMPTL contract has expired, and you’ve decided to delay signing the new one since you're feeling unwell and working from home for the next few days, so you won’t be using your car. Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn’t be so calm, because you still need a CMPTL contract, even if you're not driving.
As long as your vehicle is registered in the Republic of Armenia, a CMPTL contract is required, unless the car is outside the country. If you're not using the vehicle, you can avoid fines by requesting a temporary removal from registration with the traffic police, which is a free process.
If you don't have a CMPTL contract for more than ten days, you'll be fined 5,000 AMD for every 10 days, up to a maximum of 100,000 AMD per year. Additionally, if you drive a vehicle on public roads in Armenia without a valid CMPTL contract, the fine is 100,000 AMD. The good news is that if you sign a CMPTL contract within 24 hours of the violation being detected, the fine is reduced by 75%, bringing it down to just 25,000 AMD.
Today, insurance companies have made it incredibly easy to sign a CMPTL contract, taking just two minutes of your time. To check the rates or pricelist, you can visit the website or app of your preferred insurance company, or use payment calculation apps like ASWA to see how much your vehicle's insurance will cost. From there, you can conveniently sign the CMPTL contract online.
Let’s acknowledge that online insurance has made life so much easier, and it’s also played a huge role in making driving safer for everyone.
